Visting Fellowship

Visit AMI and work alongside our research community

About the Fellowship

The AMI Visiting Fellowship Programme offers researchers the opportunity to engage with the Institute’s intellectual community while utilising its unique resources. Fellows benefit from access to AMI’s library and study spaces, participation in internal seminars, workshops, and events (subject to scheduling), and opportunities for informal discussion with AMI scholars and students.

We welcome applications from postdoctoral and established researchers working on topics relevant to AMI’s areas of investigation who would benefit from short-term access to resources and dialogue. To be considered, applicants are expected to meet the following criteria:

  • Proficiency in academic English is required.

  • Applicants should hold a doctoral degree (or equivalent scholarly qualification) in a relevant discipline.

  • Proposed research should connect meaningfully with AMI’s broader areas of inquiry without implying institutional endorsement.

The following practical details outline what fellows can expect during their stay at AMI, including accommodation, facilities, and institutional support.

Visits are flexible and arranged individually. Most Visiting Fellowships last from a few days up to several weeks.

Complimentary accommodation is available for up to one month during the fellowship; typically single-occupancy and within easy reach of AMI (details confirmed in offer letter).

A modest stipend may be offered in line with UK law and AMI policy. Amounts vary by length of stay and funding availability.

Fellows are responsible for securing appropriate immigration permissions; AMI can provide a formal letter confirming affiliation and visit dates.

Any teaching or public engagement is by mutual agreement and dependent on scheduling.

Fellows are expected to uphold AMI’s standards of professional conduct, collegiality, and safeguarding.
