On Saturday, 14th March 2026, Al‑Mahdi Institute, in partnership with the Universal Peace Federation and the Women’s Federation for World Peace UK, warmly hosted their annual Interfaith Big Iftar.
The gathering welcomed around 200 people from a wide range of faiths and backgrounds, all coming together to reflect, connect, and strengthen community bonds.
Centred on the theme “The Role of Faith in Global Peace,” the event opened with a powerful multifaith storytelling performance by Khayaal Theatre. Their captivating narratives highlighted the shared values of compassion, justice, and unity embedded across diverse religious traditions.
Following the performance, Shaykh Arif Abdulhussein, Director of the Al‑Mahdi Institute, offered reflections on the moral responsibilities of faith communities in building global peace, and Dr Nawshad Suleman, co‑founder of the Clifton Road Food Bank, spoke about the importance of local solidarity, service, and alleviating hardship within the community.
In support of these efforts, the evening included a raffle draw, with all proceeds dedicated to raising funds for the Clifton Road Food Bank.
The spirit of giving extended beyond the raffle, with funds and food items collected for both the Clifton Road Food Bank and the Middle East Emergency Appeal.
As sunset approached, guests came together for prayers followed by a shared Iftar meal, symbolising the transformative power of communities coming together, rooted in faith, guided by empathy, and driven by hope for a more peaceful world.
