DIA Workshop: The Growth of the Halal Meat Industry in the UK and Halal Slaughtering Practices

The Centre for Islamic Decrees and Doctrines (DIA) is organising an educational workshop on “The Growth of the Halal Meat Industry in the UK and Practices of Halal Ovine (Lamb/Sheep) Slaughtering” on Monday 9th September 2024 at Al-Mahdi Institute in Birmingham.

The workshop aims to bring together experts from various sectors to discuss the expanding halal meat industry in the UK and is supported by leading organisations, including the Halal Certification Organisation Ltd (HCO), the Centre of Excellence in Halal Compliance and Training (CEHCT), and The Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB).

Key topics to be discussed will include animal welfare, the global potential of the halal market, halal certification practices, and Islamic perspectives on halal slaughter. Attendees will have the opportunity to gain valuable insights from a diverse panel of speakers, including Islamic scholars, Lord Alexander Trees (Member of the House of Lords and Professor of Veterinary Parasitology), representatives from the British Veterinary Association, and industry experts in halal certification and production.
