What the Affiliate Programme Provides
Publication
Affiliates are invited to collaborate with AMI Press on research outputs, including monographs, translations and edited volumes.
Teaching
Affiliates may deliver guest lectures, lead seminars, or contribute to short courses as part of AMI's educational programmes.
Research Collaboration
Affiliates may partner with AMI on joint research projects, conferences, and scholarly initiatives that advance the study of Islam and Muslim societies.
Institutional Resources
Affiliates receive formal recognition with AMI and enjoy access to its library and archives (during visits), media facilities, and research support.

Eligibility
Affiliate status is by invitation only. The Institute identifies and approaches prospective Affiliates based on the following criteria:
- Established expertise in Islamic studies, theology, or a cognate discipline within the study of religion
- A demonstrated record of teaching, research, and publication
- Scholarly interests that align with AMI's research centres and intellectual priorities
Practical Information
The following practical details outline what affiliates can expect during their stay at AMI, including accommodation, facilities, and institutional support.
Affiliate status is continuous and reviewed periodically to ensure continued alignment and active participation.
Complimentary accommodation is available for up to one month per annum during the affiliation period; typically single-occupancy and within easy reach of AMI (details confirmed in offer letter).
A modest stipend may be offered during the period of residence, in accordance with UK law and AMI policy. The amount will depend on the length of stay and the availability of funds.
Affiliates are responsible for securing appropriate immigration permissions; AMI can provide a formal letter confirming affiliation and visit dates.
Access to the AMI Library and study spaces for the duration of the affiliation.
Affiliates are expected to uphold AMI’s standards of professional conduct, collegiality, and safeguarding.
Affiliates retain IP in their research. AMI requests acknowledgement of affiliation in outputs produced during the stay and may discuss publication pathways where relevant.
