Al-Mahdi Institute in partnership with Al-Mizan Charitable trust is exploring future trajactory of faith-based social action in Muslim Communities.

Whilst the UK’s welfare and benefits system sustains those living at the margins of society, it offers little in the way of confronting the multiple barriers of disadvantage, which perpetuate the vicious cycle of poverty. Aside from food and shelter, we believe that people need to access the skills and opportunities which allow them to maintain a dignified existence above the poverty line and positively engage in the community.

Working in partnership with Al-Mizan Charitable Trust, a grant-making charity for vulnerable families living in poverty, the Al-Mahdi Institute is conducting research on how contemporary British Muslims are engaging in social action projects to alleviate suffering in the community. Al-Mizan Charitable Trust is at the forefront of this movement, and the Al-Mahdi Institute is exploring the outcomes and future trajectory of faith-based social action in Muslim communities.
