The Al-Mahdi Institute was founded with the central goal of establishing an educational institute in Europe that could provide students with advanced training in Islamic Studies and Arabic tailored specifically for the needs of those living in multi-cultural and plural settings.

Within each of the various modes of study on offer at the institute there is an emphasis on scholarly and academic rigor combined with an open and non-dogmatic philosophy of learning. The institute presupposes no particular religious or philosophical commitment amongst its students. Instead it insists on, and aims to cultivate, an attitude of deep respect towards divergent beliefs and cultural values, this creating an ideal atmosphere for a committed and honest pursuit of knowledge.
