The Al-Mahdi Institute initiated the hosting of an annual Fiqhi Workshop, with aims to tackle important contemporary issues of practical concern that are faced by Muslims living in the modern world. There is no doubt that the gulf between the historical fiqhi discourse and the current discourses of society has grown over time; a gap that needs to be critically addressed in the present day. Accordingly these scholarly workshops facilitate scholars from the Institute to meet with renowned worldwide experts and scholars, who stem from both traditional and progressive backgrounds in a variety of fields, in order to share, develop and disseminate cutting edge ideas around specific fiqhi themes.
